Monarch Harps On Measures To Check Crime
The Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amanyanabo of Kalabari, HRM King T.J.T. Princewill has advised the various security agencies to put in place modalities towards checking the level of crimes in the society.
King Princewill gave the charge during the pre investiture lunch lecture organised by the Police Community Relation Committee (PCRC), Rivers State Command and also said that security should be the concern of everyone in the society.
According to him, the critical area the Police must address is how to eliminate distrust among members of the society, promising that as a patron, he would work hard with others to sustain cordial relationship between the Police and members of the public.The Chairman, PCRC Rivers State, Mr. Austen Young said the Committee was working hard to ensure that security becomes everyone’s business in the state.
“The reality of insecurity all over the world is currently hunting the human race as recent events in Nigeria confirm the existence of terrorist group with international connections” he said.
He also said that the pre investiture lecture was necessitated by the need to strengthen the Community system to the challenges of national security.
Mr. Young said that those nominated as honorary members will be made to understand the dynamics of Community Policing.
The State Commissioner of Police, Suleiman Abba, said that Community Policing helped the Police to fish out criminals in the society.
