NPA Reshuffles Managers
For effective administration of Nigerian Ports, a major reshuffle had taken place among top officers of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
The Tide gathered that the erstwhile General Manager, Eastern Ports, Mr Sotonye Etomi is now in-charge of Monitoring and Regulatory Services to operate from the NPA House Marina, Lagos while the General Manager, monitoring, Eastern Port, Mr. C.N. Okonji was sent to Calabar Port as Port Administrator.
It was gathered that the General Manager, Special Duties to Rivers Port, Mr Abba Rufai Umar is now the Ports Administrator.
The Tide further gathered that Mallam Mohammed Bulangu, who was lately the General Manager of Western Ports now moves to the NPA Headquarters as the Head of Commercial as the NPA Overseas Representative, Mr Habib Abdullahi is now redeployed as Port Administrator, Delta Ports, with the General Manager, Human Resources, Ms A.M Sonaike now moved as Port Administrator, Tin-Can Island, Port, Apapa, Lagos.
Mr. S.O. Obumneme, former Port Manager, Delta ports is now in-charge of Onne Port as Port Administrator.
The Tide maritime correspondent further learnt that the Manager Director Authority, Mallam Omar Suleiman said the exercise was to inject new blood into the agency for effective delivery.
According to our source, NPA is believed to be top heavy with 21 General Managers and 57 Assistant General Managers, most of whom have no definite functions.
The managing Director of the Eastern Ports, Mr Felix Ovbude is the only one retained, thereby creating room for duplication of duties.
The Tide maritime correspondent learnt that three General manager, namely Alhaji Y.S Abubakar, Mr Tarfa and Engr Soji Olanipekum may likely retire from their duties.
