Rev George Dies At 75
A Onetime Chairman of the Rivers State Primary School Management Board, Rev. Clifford Talbot Tokin George is dead.
According to a statement issued by the family and signed by Mr. Karibi T. George, Rev. George died on August 6, this year at the age 75 after a brief illness. He was born in Sokari Kiri in Buguma Asari-Toru local government area of Rivers State.
The statement also said the until his death, late rev. George served as Chairman, Rivers State Scholarship Board between 1975 to 1979, Chairman State Pilgrims Welfare Board, 1994 to 1995, Chairman Rivers State Library Board and Director, primary and Teacher Education, Ministry of Education.
The statement further stated that he as a Baptist Pastor and served as Rector of Baptist College of Theology, Obinze Owerri in Imo State as well as president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention for two terms.
Late Rev. George had his early education of Baptist Day School Buguma and Baptist High School Port Harcourt. He later proceeded to Nigeria Baptist Theological Seminary, Ogbomosho, University of Ibadan and University of Calabar when he obtained Bachelor of Theology, Arts and Post-Graduate Diploma in Education respectively. Also late Rev. George was a recipient of the Doctor of Divinity, Honovis Causa of Vision Christian University, USA.
The family added that burial rites would begin on Thursday August 25, 2011 with Night of Tribute/Service of song at Port Harcourt Club while the burial would be in Buguma on Saturday August 27 and followed with a thanksgiving service at Carson Memorial Baptist Church Port Harcourt on August 28.
