Amaechi Restates Commitment To Transparent, Accountable Leadership
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State, says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led government in the state, would continue to provide transparent and accountable leadership if voted into power for another four years tenure.
Governor Amaechi, who stated this yesterday at Emohua, headquarters of the Emohua Local Government Area, during the governorship campaign rally, said public funds must be separated from private funds in the delivery of democratic dividends.
The governor said his administration realised that the only way to create jobs for the teeming population was to embark on infrastructural development of the state, provide conducive environment for investors to engage in business peacefully, and embark on agricultural revolution.
He noted that the state government embarked on the construction of new primary and secondary schools to give the youths qualitative education, that he would make them compete favourably with their counterparts all over the world.
The governor noted that within the first tenure of his administration, he focused on key sectors of the economy such as education, infrastructural development, stressing that the second tenure would see the state government renovate and rehabilitate the general hospitals in the state.
The State Chief Executive thanked God for the opportunity to serve the state, and urged the people to vote for his re-election, as well as all other PDP candidates including President Goodluck Jonathan, so as to enable him complete the numerous projects.
In his solidarity message, the former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Prince Chibudom Nwuche lauded Governor Amaechi for making a remarkable difference in government, compared with the past ten years in Rivers State.
He said the Governor had restored peace and embarked on the development of infrastructure, noting that it was only logical to support a man, who had done well in governance to make the party a dominant party in the state, adding that the party must open the political space for all to come in.
On their part, the Senate and House of Representatives candidates of the PDP in the area, Senator George Sekibo and Hon. Andrew Uchendu described Governor Amaechi as a born leader, who had earned national and international respect, adding that his tenure in Rivers State had witnessed a revolutionary trend in the development of infrastructure.
The State Chairman of PDP, Chief Godpower Ake, who also presented flags to PDP candidates, said Governor Amaechi was an honest man, who keeps to his promises and called on the people to vote for him and all PDP candidates in the forthcoming April general elections.
The Chairman of Emohua Local Government Council, Chief Emeka Woke lauded Governor Amaechi for embarking on people-oriented programmes in the area and assured him that they would vote massively for all the PDP candidates.
Also speaking, a political stalwart in Rivers State popularly called the bulldozer, Chief Sergeant Awuse, said the people were voting for security, dividends of democracy and total transformation of Rivers State, expressing appreciation for what Governor Amaechi had achieved as a Governor.
Governor Amaech had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Emouha Council of Chiefs where he promised to reconstruct the Rumuche community road.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
