Orogodo Bridge To Be Reconstructed Soon
The Delta State Government says it will reconstruct the recent collapsed old Orogodo Bridge in Agbor to serve as a temporary relief, pending the completion of the new one presently under construction.
The State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduagha, who made the promise while inspecting the collapsed old Orogodo Bridge and the new one under construction, directed that the reconstruction should commence immediately.
He sympathised with the people of Agbor over the collapsed bridge and promised to intensify effort to complete the new bridge to bring permanent relief to them.
Uduaghan disclosed that the old Boji Boji Agbor road would be dualised to widen the dredging of the Orogodo River to check the heavy erosion in the area.
Describing the incident as unfortunate, he attributed the cause of the collapse to the heavy down pour and erosion and promised not to allow them to be cut off from the rest of the town and its environ.
Uduaghan, while directing that heavy duty vehicles should not be allowed to use the temporary bridge so that it would serve the desired purpose, also cautioned the people of Agbor against dumping refuse in the Orogodo River, explaining that such act would block the free flow of the River, which could result in an epidemic.
