Body Tasks Nigerians On National Transformation
A body labeled Act Right Initiative (ARI) Nigeria has called on the citizenry to take personal responsibility on promoting change rather than looking at their leaders.
Speaking at a Special Church Service tagged ‘Naiga Sunday’ to formally launch the Rivers State Chapter of ARI in Port Harcourt, Executive Director of the body, Rev. Osas Obarisiagbon represented by Pastor Ken Idehen said all Nigerians must seek to be change agents.
Rev. Obarisiagbon who expressed happiness that the launch is coinciding with the nation’s 50th Golden Jubilee anniversary averred that the citizenry is looking at the wrong direction for change.
He said the body was established to chart a new path towards national rejuvenation as the golden jubilee has opened a new era for the nation’s history.
Rev. Obarisiagbon said for the nation to go forward, the people should shun negative influences based on primordial sentiments and seek general good of all people.
In her remarks, Miss Democracy 2010, Sandra Uwadim expressed the belief that the country still has a great future following progress made in the last 11 years of uniterupted civilian rule.
Miss Uwadim called on the people to fully participate in the voter’s registration by making sure their votes count in the elections next year.
Chairperson of Youth and Women Empowerment Centre, Mrs. Gloria Idehen stressed that the citizenry has the civic responsibility to uphold the dignity of the nation by acting rightly.
She declared, “As Act Right Ambassadors, we have an opportunity to fight corruption and other wrong attitudes and cultures of Nigeria to a standstill”.
Mrs Idehen lauded the initiative and commended the Rivers State Government for its development strides in education and infrastructure.
Senior Pastor of the Church of God Mission, the Rest Place Port Harcourt, Rev. Tari Ekiyor disclosed that Act Right Initiative Nigeria is a pet project of the Christian Youth Felllowship of the church.
Formally launched in August this year, Rev. Ekiyor said the body is geared providing platform for a new generation that will reposition the country for the better.
