NCC Pledges Improved Services In NCC
The Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC), Dr Eugene Juwah has said that the commission would continue with programmes initiated by his predecessor to ensure improvement in its services.
Speaking when a delegation of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), led by its president, Dr Titi Omo-ettu, paid him a courtesy visit last Friday, Juwah listed some of the programmes as the SIM card registration, number portability, Wire Nigeria Initiative (WIN) and State Accelerated Broadband Initiative (SABI).
Other programmes listed by Juwah are anti-phone theft initiative, universal access programme, Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF), programmes of the Digital Bridge Institute and programmes designed to reduce tariff for consumers.
He noted that issues of consumer education would be intensified while urgent measures to improve on the quality of service would be taken.
He said the SIM card registration was in the front burner and that the commission was working with stakeholders, including the government and operators, to ensure its success.
While rating ATCON as a credible platform to reach out to all segments of the industry, the executive vice chairman declared support for the association’s projects.
“I am privileged to have been given this opportunity to serve this nation in the sector which strides are visible in the economy”.
“I have no option than to give my best shot and to ensure that the legacy of success is sustained and further expanded,” he noted.
Earlier, Omo-ettu had urged NCC to begin a sensitisation campaign on SIM card registration across the country for the benefit of uninformed consumers.
He noted that there was a dearth of skills in the industry which led to the collapse of many telecommunications companies.
“We shall tap expertise from wherever it is available and provide support training for members of ATCON. We request for NCC’s total support in this regard,” Omo-ettu said.
