Embrace Nursing Education Reforms, Delta Govt Tells Nurses
Dr. Joseph Otumara, the Delta Commissioner for Health, in Asaba on Thursday advised nurses in the state to embrace new reforms in nursing education.
Otumara gave the advice at a forum of Nurses’ Assembly with the theme: “Reforms in Nursing Education and Practice: the Way Forward’’.
He said the state government appreciated their hard work, loyalty, dedication to duty, efficiency and punctuality to work.
According to the commissioner, nursing education and practice reforms are international issues in which Nigeria should not be left out.
“I enjoin you to avail yourselves of various opportunities that come your way to continually update your knowledge and skills, as well as to keep abreast with changing trends and technology in the nursing profession.
“I wish to encourage you all to embrace the new reforms in nursing education and practice in order to upgrade your all-round work to make you more professional.
He urged the assembly to deliberate and come up with useful recommendations that would help the profession in providing quality healthcare to the people of Delta.
The Delta Director of Nursing Service, Mrs Juliet Aihevboloria, said that the forum was targeted at bringing together, nurses from private and public services to rub minds on better prospects for the profession.
She said that with the advancement in technology and the world as a global village, it was imperative that nurses should meet to chart the way forward.
“It is also intended for us to discuss burning issues affecting our noble profession and accessible nursing care for our clients.
“It is not only for us to identify ourselves as professionals but also to package a holistic, qualitative and accessible nursing care for our clients,’’ she said.
