Subeb To Partner USAID On Education Project
Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) is to partner with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to facilitate successful Implementation of the Northern Education initiative (NED Project).
This was contained in a statement Signed by the SUBEB Public Relations Officer, Malam Kobi, on statement signed by the SUBEB Public Relations Officer, Malam Kabiru Kobi, on Friday and made available to The Tide source.
The Acting Chairman of the Board, Alhaji Abdulllahi Kashuri, who gave the assurance when members of the USAD NEI project visited him said the collaboration would assist the board to actualise its objectives and raise the standard of basic education sub-sector as well as ensure access to free quality education.
Alhaji Kashiri commended USAID for selecing Bauchi State as one of the Pilot States for the project, adding that the gesture would change the fortune of basic education.
In his response, the team leader, Mr Mitchell Rakusin said the visit was to inform the board about the USAD – NEI project and sought for its support. Rakusin said NEI was a four-year project that would be ran between 2010 and 2015 in Bauchi and Sokoto States.
He said the project was designed to strength the capacities of subeb and local Education authorities (Leas) the areas of teacher training, Education Management information system.

The statement earlier stated that Government had on March 18 signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the United States Government on the Implementation of a 170 million dollar three component project initiated by GSMAD,
The project , according to the document, include two-states High Impact Project (T-Ship), Northern Education Initiative (NEI) and the Leadership Empowerment and Advocacy Development (LEAD).
It stated that about 43 million dollars was for the implementation of NEI project, designed to enhance access to quality education, cater for the educational needs of 15,000 orphans and vulnerable children.
“The arrangement was also to promote integration of Almajiris into formal school system and enhance literacy education among out of school children, the document explained.
