…Assures Navy of Collaboration In Service Delivery
The Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured Nigerian Navy of his administration’s resolve to collaborate with it to achieve resounding success in its service to the nation.
Governor Amaechi, represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, gave this assurance during a pre-commissioning dinner organized by the Naval Officers Wives Association (NOWA) Primary School in Borikiri, Port Harcourt on Thursday.
He thanked members of the Nigerian Navy for sacrificing their lives to restore peace and security in the state, stating that the bond between the Navy and the State has been there for ages.
Amaechi, who used the occasion to fulfill his promise of giving financial help to the families of the Naval Officers who lost their lives during a recent naval helicopter crash at Isiokpo, lauded the NOWA for its initiative to build a model primary school in Port Harcourt.
He promised that Rivers State Government would deliver 40 computers to the school, pointing out that the computers would contain programmes capable of teaching the pupils their subjects, adding that the state would send specially trained teachers to train the teachers of the school who would then teach their pupils.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ishaya Ibrahim thanked Rivers State Governent for identifying with Naval Officers bereaved families, describing the government as responsive and an encouragement to the need of the Navy, urging all to pray for the survival of the nation.
In his vote of thanks, the Commanding Officer, NNS Pathfinder, Commodore Yusuf Hinna commended the Governor for attending the dinner and for the gesture to the bereaved families, assuring of Navy’s continued support to the state.
Highlights of the occasion were the presentation of gifts to various individuals and NOWA.
