The Rivers State Commissioner for Education, Dame Alice Lawrence Nemi, has charged key officers of the ministry to be more productive and pragmatic.
This is part of efforts to enable the ministry deliver on the vision of the state government in terms giving quality education to Rivers people.
Dame Nemi gave the charge in a meeting with Directors, Deputy Directors, and Assistant Directors of various units and departments of the ministry.
According to her, the delivery on the vision of the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi is hinged on the collective effort of all staff, especially the pivotal staff, who are expected to implement these policies.
She requested all heads of department to submit to her office work plan of their various departments for 2010.
The Education Commissioner charged all to be passionate, diligent and thorough in their work in order to deliver quality services to the public.
Consequently, according to her, staff training would be greatly enhanced this year, and some departments, including inspection, would be strengthened to make them more efficient and productive.
Responding on behalf of the staff, the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Richard Ofuru, thanked the Hon. Commissioner for her pragmatic leadership and drive torwards achieving set goals and promised that greater efforts would be put in to achieve greater heights this year.
