NOA Wants Emphasis On Provision Of Water
The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has called on the various levels of governments in the country to give more attention to the provision of clean potable water in their respective localities.
The Director General of the Agency, Alhaji Mohammed Idi Farouk made the call during the commissioning of Amaji MPP3 water scheme in Omuma Local Government Area by the agency.
The project and others were initiated by NOA in conjunction with the Department for International Development (DFID) and the communities.
Alhaji Farouk said that the initiative which was in 12 Local Government Areas of both Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa States was aimed at building the capacity of the local communities in the Niger Delta on community driven development approach. The initiative was also an attempt by the NOA to contribute to the president’s seven point Agenda as it affects the Niger Delta through the adoption of a governance/developmental approach against the background of the fact that underdevelopment with the vicious cycle of hunger, anger, poverty and alienation, has always been the root cause of conflicts.
The NOA D.G also said that the projects, were unique to address the problems of the Niger Delta through capacity building designed to enhance community’s ability to solve peculiar problems.
The NOA team had earlier inspected teachers’ common room with toilet facilities at the Community Secondary School Rumuolumeni where the State Director of the Agency’ Mr Andy Nweye said that NOA would continue to design projects that would had improve the lives of the people.
