RSG Signs MoU With Refuse Disposal Firm
The Rivers State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Albayrak Africa Limited on the collection and disposal of waste in Rivers State.
In his speech at a brief Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Barrister Kingsley O. Chinda, on behalf of the government and people of the state charged the company to join hands with the Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority (RSESA) and the Ministry in repositioning the waste management sitaution in the state.
Hon. Chinda, who expressed confidence in the company based on their wealth of experience urged it to use the one month free trial period to attract fair judgment from the people of the state.
The Commissioner hoped that the company’s outing in the State would be a window to reaching other parts of the country.
The Commissioner was supported by the chairman, Rivers State Environmental Sanitation Authority (RSESA), Chief Nnamdi Nwokekoro, who restated the need for professionalism in the sanitation sector.
After the signing of the MoU ceremony, the team, led by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Bar. Rufus N. Godwins, inspected the pilot sites of MOU where he enjoined the company to bring their wealth of experience to give the state a facelift.
The areas inspected included, the Old and New GRAs, Aba Road and the Oluobasanjo Road.
It is recalled that under the MoU, Albayrak Africa Limited has delivered one compactor, one small waste truck and one road sweeper to the state government.
Albayrak has also agreed to, in furtherance of the MoU to provide expertise for design and management services amongst others, while the government shall provide sites to be used as dumpsite, security, information and ensure peaceable service delivery.
The one month trial period shall be at no cost to the Rivers State Government.
