Ogbakor Etche Leadership Crisis Deepens …as Eleco Chairman Denies Election Of Prof. Amadi
The leadership crisis rocking Ogbakor Etche, the apex socio-cultural organisation of the Etche Ethnic Nationality in Rivers State has taken a new twist following denial about the purported election of Professor Steve Amadi as the President General of the body.
The denial which was made by Sire, Silver Amadi, the chairman of the Electoral committee of the organisation, shortly after a meeting at the Port Harcourt residence of Onye-shi Etche Eze E.N.B. Opurum.
Prof. Amadi and Dr. John .C. Ihejirika both contested for the President General of the body during the last Easter Convention of the organisation.
The convention could not declare a candidate for the position as a result of alleged protest by a faction, this situation led to the intervention of the Onye-shi Etche in council who promised to handle the matter.
However, reacting to a news report on the appointment of professor Steve Amadi as the president general of the organisation, the electoral committee chairman Sir, Silver Amadi described the report as the hand work of detractors as the matter is still pending before the Etche Monarch.
The committee chairman told newsmen that the Onye-shi Etche, Eze E. N.B. Opurum had told them that the matter has not been resolved yet, stressing that anyone parading himself as the president general of Ogbakor Etche is on his own, adding that Rev. Father Donatus Ukulor has been asked to continue as the Acting President general of the body.
