The Commissioner of
Sports, Rivers State, Hon Fred Igwe has called on lovers of sports and fans of Dolphins FC and Rivers Angels FC owned by Rivers State Government to come out and support the teams as they participate in the finals of the 2014 Federation Cup.
The competition which holds on Sunday 23 November, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium would see Dolphins which have won the FA Cup title four times play in the male category and Rivers Angels, who also won the title three times would play with Sunshine Queens in the female category.
The Sports Commissioner said, Dolphins and Rivers Angels are extra ordinary teams that have shown strength, zeal and determination to succeed over the years by their performances in the Nigeria Premier League and the Federation Cup competitions.
“The high rate of grooming in the teams can be seen as players of both teams always perform well when called by the Nigeria Football Federation to play for the country.
“For example, just recently, 11 Rivers Angels players featured in the CAF African Women Championship in Namibia, that made Nigeria win the 9th title of the tournament.
“We are proud of the teams and invite individuals and corporate organisations to turn up to give massive support to our teams as they take Rivers State to another height of victory.
