Oboabona’s Return Boosts Nigeria
Super Eagles
defender Godfrey Oboabona has returned to training after an ankle injury.
The 23-year-old missed the victory over Bosnia-Herzegovina after being taken off on a stretcher in his side’s World Cup opening game draw against Iran.
“I am ready to resume training and the medics have given me a clean bill,” said Oboabona, 23.
Oboabona could face Argentina and replace Joseph Yobo, who needs one more game to reach the 100-cap milestone.
“It’s good news that I will reach that milestone but what is uppermost in my mind is for the team to win and for us to advance to the next stage,” said 33-year-old Yobo. “The rest will be a bonus.”
