OPM Leader Escapes Assassination
Unidentified gunmen have stormed the headquarters of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Eliozu in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State in search of the General Overseer of the church, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere.
Sources within the area informed The Tide that the men who were heavily armed with guns, matchetes and axes, including charms had arrived the church in the early hours of last Thursday and demanded to see the General Overseer, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, who incidentally was not in the church at the time of the incident.
A member of the church, who spoke under condition of anonymity said that when confronted by some members of the church, the armed men refused to disclose their identities as well as their mission.
The Tide learnt that the matter was being investigated by the Rumuokoro police Division and the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).
The General Overseer of the church, Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere while reacting to the incident, said that, he was not surprised as there had been several threats to his life by some members of cult groups.
He said that occult people had tried severally to kill him spiritually, saying that they had now tried to kill him physically.
According to him, occultist members were angry because God was using him to expose their activities. ‘God has used me to rescue Ogboni people and free masons.
“Occult people have tried spiritually to kill me but now, they are trying physically”, he said.
He, however, vowed to continue with his activities, and urged those involved to repent as the kingdom of God was nearer.
When The Tide visited the Rumuokoro police station, the Divisional, Police Officer (DPO) was not on seat, but an officer who spoke under anonymity, said that they had heard of the incident but could not reveal exactly the investigating police officers.
When contacted on phone, yesterday, the state Police Public Relations officer (PPRO), Mrs Angela Agabe told The Tide that she was in the church, and requested for a text message which she did not reply as at the time of filing the story.
