Dana Introduces New Planes, July
Dana Airlines has said it will introduce Boeing 737 planes into its fleet starting from the third quarter of 2013.
Dana currently operates only Boeing MacDonald Douglas planes. The move is expected to boost the airline’s passenger traffic after concerns over the safety of MD-83 planes following the June 3, 2012 crash that killed 153 passengers.
A statement on Tuesday, however, said that there were plans to expand its route network across the country.
“Dana has reaffirmed its commitment to boosting its operations with the acquisition of Boeing 737 aircraft by the third quarter of 2013,” the statement said.
The airline has said it will resume flight operations to Port-Harcourt, on Monday April 22, 2013.
Dana, prior to the crash, operated flight services from Port-Harcourt to Lagos and Abuja.
The airline said it was expected to operate daily flights from both destinations to Port Harcourt on resumption of the service.
The statement quoted the Head of Commercial, Dana, Mr. Obi Mbanuzuo, as noting that Dana Air was pleased to re-launch flight operations to the oil rich city, to offer business and leisure travellers the opportunity to experience Dana Air’s world-class services and unrivalled hospitality in line with its objective of re-integrating major cities into its route network.
“We are constantly reviewing our operations and our decision to commence operations to Port-Harcourt is hinged on our desire to offer our guests access to seamless connections to their final destinations across the nation,” Mbanuzuo stated.
Mbanuzuo said Dana Air was resuming operations with one daily flight from Lagos to Port Harcourt and a return flight from Port Harcourt to Lagos.
He said Dana’s vision was to be recognised and respected as Nigeria’s most reliable and customer-friendly airline.
He added that its mission was to earn the loyalty and respect of the customers by consistently demonstrating its commitment to service and providing affordable regional air transport services, focusing on innovation, quality and service excellence.
