Dame Amaechi Takes Sanitation Campaign To Communities
The wife of Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi has launched “Clean Your Environment” campaign to shore up support for environmental sanitation effort in the state.
Mrs. Amaechi who participated in the sanitation stakeholders forum organised by the state Environmental Sanitation Authority said it was time for residents to reciprocate huge investment by the government in the area of sanitation.
If Rivers State must be returned to its garden city status, she said all hands must be on deck to complement government efforts especially cleaning their surroundings and proper management of waste.
“We are about to experience a new dawn in discharge of sanitation, it is our collective responsibility, lets help the government to serve us better especially as we are about to witness a change in the mode of waste collection and disposal,” she reamarked.
Dame Amaechi further hinted that she would lead women to all parts of the state to create more awareness on the new trend of sanitation management in the state.
She said, “very soon, we will hit the road to campaign on clean your environment because our women and children are waste managers at home and are worst hit in the event of outbreak of diseases occasioned by the poor management of refuse at home.”
The governor’s wife began the exercise Tuesday during the commissioning of water projects scheme in five communities in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area donated by president of Arm of Hope World-wide, Apostle Eugene Ogu to mark his fiftieth birthday anniversary.
She commended Apostle Ogu for his gesture and called on other well-meaning individuals to take a cue from him while charging the benefitting communities to make judicious use of the project and not to allow it to be destroyed.
