Group Canvasses Proper Equipment Of Police
A Non Governmental Organisation, the Niger Delta Coalition Against Violence (NDCAV), has canvassed for proper funding and equipment of the police to enable them discharge their statutory obligations effectively.
President of the body, Comrade Lekia Christain made the appeal in Port Harcourt yesterday, while reacting to the recent helicopter crash that claimed the lives of some top officers of the police.
Comrade Christain who attributed the air crash to lack of maintenance of the helicopter, called on corporate bodies to participate in funding the police to avert such disaster in the future.
He decried a situation where several police men had been slaughtered by the Islamist extremist sect, Boko Haram on account of poor equipment to combat crime.
He condoled the police high command over the unfortunate incident and also lauded the effort of the inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar in dislodging all road blocks on Nigeria roads.
Comrade Christrain, also commended the new initiative of placing the police on social network, describing the development as a veritable platform to enhance a more ICT compliance police, in addition to promoting a more public friendly police in Nigeria.
