Ministry Condemns Indiscriminate Use Of Posters
The Rivers State Ministry of Environment, has expressed deep concern over the indiscriminate use of posters in the city of Port Harcourt and its environs by politicians.
The Permanent Secretary in charge of the Ministry, Mr. Rufus N. Godwins made the observation last Friday in Port Harcourt while addressing journalists.
Mr. Godwins stated that the use of posters for campaign by politicians had defaced and polluted the esthetic beauty of the environment.
He used the occasion to remind the politicians that the Environmental Laws of the State did not only ban the use of posters for any form of advert but empowered the ministry to prosecute defaulters.
The Permanent Secretary charged politicians involved in the act to promptly commence the removal of such posters in their own interest and that of the state.
It would be recalled that the state government has banned the use of posters and horn speakers for adverts in the state.
