Show Interest In Federal Service – King Princewill
Worried by the poor representation of Rivers indigenes in Federal establishments, the chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, King T.J. T. Princewill, has sounded an alarm, saying the trend could deny needed opportunities at the centre.
Speaking when the Rivers representative at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Chief M.K. Taribo paid him a visit in Port Harcourt, King Princewill called for concerted effort towards encouraging qualified youngmen and women of Rivers indigenes to take up appointment in the Federal Civil Service in other to fill the state’s quota.
He said, the move would help to reduce the growing army of unemployed Rivers youths now roaming the streets, in search of elusive jobs and also enhance fairness and justice in employment in federal establishments.
King Princewill who is also the Amanyanabo of Kalabari Kingdom commended Chief Taribo for his patriotism and dedication to duty and wished him royal blessings.
Earlier, Chief Taribo had told the monarch that the visit was to congratulate him on his appointment as chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, noting that given the rich academic background and integrity, he has no doubt that King Princewill would justify the confidence reposed on his new appointment.
Chief Taribo equally lamented the poor Rivers representation in federal establishments and expressed the hope that the state chieftaincy institution would take up the issue at the appropriate level.
