Ex-Council Officials Inaugurate Coordinator’s For Fubara’s Support Drive
As part of efforts to galvanise grassroots support for the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, a political pressure group, “Former Local Government Councils Appointees In Rivers State” has inaugurated its local government areas and ward coordinators across the 23 local government areas of the State.
The inauguration of the local government and ward coordinators marks the official commencement of the association as a support group and members of the Simplified Movement family in the State.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the main auditorium of the Ministry of Women Affairs in Port Harcourt last Friday, the Director-General of the group, Comrade Doris Douglas, averred that the association was borne out of love and desire to support the ideals and vision of the state governor, adding that the inauguration of the various coordinators marked a new chapter in their journey towards a better political future in the state.
Comrade Douglas disclosed that the association was aimed at working in synergy with the parent body, the Simplified Movement, to galvanise grassroots support for the present administration in the state, adding that membership of the group cuts across the 23 local government areas of the State.
“We come from diverse backgrounds, but share a common vision: a peaceful political structure for the overall advancement of the citizenry. We acknowledge the significant sacrifices made by our leaders, particularly our Grand Patrons, Rt Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipi, Rt Hon Edison Ehie. We appreciate the unwavering support and dedication our governor has received from you all.
“Our group is committed to listening to your voices, amplifying your concerns, and working tirelessly to assist you in actualising the goals and gains of democracy through the visionary leadership of the state governor” she stated.
The DG, however, used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor Fubara to consider members of the group in appointments into positions of thrust in the state as well as provision of bus and office space among other things.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Cyril Okerenwogba, commended the various coordinators for their dedication and commitment towards achieving the goals of the association and urged them to carry the message of support to Governor Fubara to the grassroots.
He opined that the state governor had become an embodiment of peace and humility, stressing that Rivers people were happy with his disposition and style of governance.
“Governor Fubara has demystified the office of the governor as people now feel free to talk with him and discuss with out any form of fear and harassment”, she said, and urged members of the group to continue in their support for the governor to enable him succeed in his quest to advance the developmental frontiers of the state.
The climax of the event was presentation of awards to some CTC Chairmen in the state.

Don’t Risk Your Legacy, Citizen Begs Jonathan Against 2027 Presidential Race
In a letter titled, “An Open Letter to Former President Goodluck Jonathan,” the observer said Dr Jonathan should be careful not to allow himself to be drawn into partisan calculations driven by ambition rather than national interest.
He cautioned the former president against allowing himself to be used by what he described as desperate political interests.
“I believe this is the time to protect the good name and legacy you have built over the years. You should not allow yourself to be used by desperate political elements who may be more interested in their own ambitions than in the future of Nigeria,” the letter read.
The Social Commentator further warned Dr Jonathan to be wary of those advocating for his comeback, claiming many of them were previously opposed to his administration.
“Many of those calling for your return today were your antagonists, those who frustrated your government back then. You should be careful not to become a pawn in a game designed by others or else they will stain your white with their ‘roforofo’,” he said.
He maintained that Dr Jonathan’s legacy remains defined by his decision to concede defeat in 2015, which he described as a landmark moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.
“Your legacy was built through years of public service and your decision to put the country’s peace above personal ambition at a critical moment in Nigeria’s history. That legacy should not be put at risk because of the desperation of a few politicians,” he added.
Mr Adenuga also alleged that some of the promoters of Dr Jonathan’s return have lost credibility in the public space.
“The truth is that some of the people pushing you to contest have already damaged their own reputations. They should not be allowed to stain your legacy with their soiled hands. What they could not achieve on their own should not be pursued through your name and goodwill,” he stressed.
He concluded by urging the former president to remain above political manoeuvring and protect his place in history.
“History has been kind to you. Preserve that honour and remain above the political games of those who want to use your name for their own purposes,” he wrote.
Recall that former President Goodluck Jonathan recently emerged as the presidential candidate of the Kabiru Turaki-led Interim National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following a special convention held in Abuja, where delegates ratified his nomination ahead of the 2027 general elections.
