Ex-Council Officials Inaugurate Coordinator’s For Fubara’s Support Drive
As part of efforts to galvanise grassroots support for the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, a political pressure group, “Former Local Government Councils Appointees In Rivers State” has inaugurated its local government areas and ward coordinators across the 23 local government areas of the State.
The inauguration of the local government and ward coordinators marks the official commencement of the association as a support group and members of the Simplified Movement family in the State.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the main auditorium of the Ministry of Women Affairs in Port Harcourt last Friday, the Director-General of the group, Comrade Doris Douglas, averred that the association was borne out of love and desire to support the ideals and vision of the state governor, adding that the inauguration of the various coordinators marked a new chapter in their journey towards a better political future in the state.
Comrade Douglas disclosed that the association was aimed at working in synergy with the parent body, the Simplified Movement, to galvanise grassroots support for the present administration in the state, adding that membership of the group cuts across the 23 local government areas of the State.
“We come from diverse backgrounds, but share a common vision: a peaceful political structure for the overall advancement of the citizenry. We acknowledge the significant sacrifices made by our leaders, particularly our Grand Patrons, Rt Hon Evans Bapakaye Bipi, Rt Hon Edison Ehie. We appreciate the unwavering support and dedication our governor has received from you all.
“Our group is committed to listening to your voices, amplifying your concerns, and working tirelessly to assist you in actualising the goals and gains of democracy through the visionary leadership of the state governor” she stated.
The DG, however, used the opportunity to appeal to the Governor Fubara to consider members of the group in appointments into positions of thrust in the state as well as provision of bus and office space among other things.
Earlier in his address, the chairman of the occasion, Dr Cyril Okerenwogba, commended the various coordinators for their dedication and commitment towards achieving the goals of the association and urged them to carry the message of support to Governor Fubara to the grassroots.
He opined that the state governor had become an embodiment of peace and humility, stressing that Rivers people were happy with his disposition and style of governance.
“Governor Fubara has demystified the office of the governor as people now feel free to talk with him and discuss with out any form of fear and harassment”, she said, and urged members of the group to continue in their support for the governor to enable him succeed in his quest to advance the developmental frontiers of the state.
The climax of the event was presentation of awards to some CTC Chairmen in the state.
