The Executive Chairman of Opobo/ Nkoro Local Government Area (LGA) of River State, Dr Enyiada Cookey-Gam, has presented the 2022 Appropriation Bill of N4,037,774,735,89 to the Opobo/ Nkoro Legislative Assembly for approval.
While presenting the budget, Cookey-Gam said the budget covers both current and capital expenditure, which includes infrastructural development, agriculture, education, security, sports, transportation and human capital development.
The council boss stated that the vision for this year’s budget is to transform the economy of the LGA via investment that would turn into a business hub in the State, and Nigeria at large.
Reviewing the 2022 budget, which was christened “Budget of Transformation”, Cookey-Gam said it was anchored on the government’s six-point development agenda for the eleven wards in the LGA.
He further said his administration was committed to the completion of projects in the LGA, stressing that all new and old projects would be implemented.
The LG boss urged the law makers to give the budget accelerated passage.
A breakdown of the figure shows that infrastructural and human capital investment got the highest allocation.
