Bidding For Abali, Mile 3 Parks, Transparent -Perm Sec
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transport, Mrs Fanny Barango, has described the bidding for the construction of Abali Light Bus Terminal and the construction of Light Bus Terminal at Nkpolu Oroworukwo (Mile 3) as free and fair.
Mrs Barango, who stated this at the opening of the bidding in Port Harcourt, recently remarked that the selection was neither predicated on the lowest bidder nor the highest but on the technical competence of the companies.
She explained that the companies that met all the conditions would be selected.
The permanent secretary noted the bidding process was in compliance with the regulations of the Bureau for Public Procurement (Due Process).
She listed Master Construction Ltd, Planet Project, ELM Integrated Service Ltd, EST Masters Construction and O.K. Isokarari as the companies that bidded for the award of contract for the construction of the two parks.
Mrs Barango, who supervised the bidding process by opening the boxes and reading out the quotations by each of the bidding companies, noted that the bidding was advertised in three media houses.
She said despite the robust advertisement only the five companies bidded for the job, and expressed happiness that the process was transparent.
One of the managers of the Rivers State Bureau for Public Procurement, Mr Victor Ali, who spoke during the bidding, expressed delight at the conduct of the process.
He praised the state government for its commitment to follow due process.
It would be recalled that people from all walks of life attended the bidding.
