School Lauds RSNC On Editorial Contents
Staff and students of City Motel School, Rumuepirikom, Port Harcourt, Rivers State have commended the management of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation (RSNC) for the editorial contents of the newspaper that have shaped the society.
The commendation was made when the senior students of the school came for an excursion visit to the corporation recently as part of measures to expose the students on journalism and information gathering techniques.
Speaking with The Tide, the leader of the delegation, Mr Wahab Kolawole stated that it has been the school’s tradition to visit various media houses annually around the country, adding that due to issues of insecurity in some states, they have decided to limit their visit to media houses within the state.
He disclosed that the aim of the visit was to expose the students to the journalism profession and the various steps involved in newspaper production.
When asked how receptive the students were to the idea, he said the students were highly excited by the idea and that if they have another opportunity to visit, they would accept it.
Also speaking, an SS2 female student of the school, Abbulfathai Fatima expressed happiness that she had learnt to a great extent, the processes involved in news gathering and newspaper production through the visit to the various departments in The Tide newspaper.
In his own speech, Suleiman itris, an SS3 male student of the school stated that the excursion visit had opened his eyes and his colleagues to the underrated efforts journalists put into news gathering and the manpower involved in its production and added that he and his colleagues had learnt a lot from the visit and that now, they can boldly speak about the processes involved in newspaper production.
