Group Decries Delay In UNEP Report
The Ogoni Generation
Next Project (OGNP), an association of young Ogoni professionals has decried the delay in the implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report in the pollution of Ogoniland.
Speaking during a courtesy call on the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Tai Local Government Area, Hon. Mbukponee Okpe in his office at Saakpenwa, the President General of the group, Comrade Kadilo Kabari, said that many communities in the area are feeling the adverse effect of the pollution.
He also said that many communities have lost their sources of drinking water stressing that, the situation is impacting negatively on the people.
Comrade Kabari also said that the group will not rest on its oars until all the impacted sites are clearned up.
Meanwhile, the Ogoni Generation Next Project (OGNP) has urged the federal government to complete the Bodo-Bonny road project.
President General of the group, Comrade Kadilo Kabari, said that the completion of the road would boost economic activities in the area thereby creating employment opportunities for the youths.
He urged the Tai CTC chairman to ensure that the peoples confidence reposed on him is not betrayed, as to whom much is given, much is expected, therefore the people must be carined along in the scheme of things.
Responding, the Chairman Caretaker Committee of Tai Local Government Area, Hon Mbukponce Okpe, thanked the group for the visit, stressing that Tai local government has benefitted greately from the administration of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
