Pay Attention To Education, Monarch Tells CDC
The newly-inaugurated Community Development Committee (CDC), Ozuoha in Ikwerre Local Government area has been urged to devote more attention to the educational development of the community of Rivers State.
The Chairman Ozuoha Council of Chiefs, Chief Japheth Orji, who said this, shortly after the inauguration, said that the committee must devise modalities towards ensuring that the community regained its educational glory.
Chief Orji also advised the committee to look into the issue of security while efforts must be made to attract government amenities to Ozuoha.
He further enjoined them to be respectful, while at the same time consulting the chief council in all their endeavour.
Also speaking, the Nyenweli of Ozuoha HRH Oha Ibemene Nwosu, described the inauguration as a dream come true, especially with the calibre of men in the committee.
The traditional ruler also advised members of the committee to work with all segments of the community as it was the only way of achieving their goal.
In his speech, the Vice Chairman of the Ozuoha Council of Chiefs, Chief Adolphus Ukachukwu said that the caliber of men in the CDC was an indication that Ozuoba has come of age.
According to him, the compensation of the present CDC was based on the need for Ozuoha to catch up with other communities in the area as far as development was concerned.
He also said that the community had absolute confidence in the new community development committee and urged them not to disappoint the people.
The Parish Priest of St Michael’s Catholic Church Ozuoha, Rev Fr Chidi Duru who performed the inauguration urged the committee to ensure judicious utilization of resources at their disposal for the growth and development of the community.
Rev Fr Duru also charged the members to put the interest of the community above personal interest.
In an interview with newsmen after the inauguration the CDC chairman, Mr Ambrose Nyejiwu said that his committee would sensitise parents on the need to give more attention to the educational needs of their children.
Mr Nyejiwu also promised to ensure that the community benefited from both the state and federal governments and commended the people for giving them the opportunity to serve.
