Archbishop Of Lebanon Visits Rivers
The Catholic Maronite Archbishop of Lebanon, Most Rev. Michel Aoun, has urged for tolerance and love among Catholic faithfuls and other Christians in Nigeria.
Bishop Aoun, who was on a two-day episcopal visit to the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt, said that the virtue of christianity involves love, tolerance and forgiveness, stressing that Christians everywhere in the world must abide by what Christ represents.
The Archbishop who had visited Lagos, Ibadan and Abuja, also emphasised the need for Christian parents to ensure that their siblings are brought up in line with the teachings of Christ pointing out that it is the only way peace can be achieved both within the family and the larger society. He deplored the high rate of mistrust among the Christian community and urged them to look up to God as He is the author of all life.
Shortly on arrival at the Port Harcourt International Airport, from his visit to Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan, where he was received by Rev Elie Alam and the Parish Council, the cleric proceeded to the Saint Hardini Church, where he celebrated a mass. At an interactive session with the Catholic Maronite community, he commended them for their faithfulness to the word of God and respecting the laws of the land as Nigeria is their Diocesan country and most of whom were born in Nigeria. In his remarks, the Catholic Bishop of Port Harcourt Diocese, Bishop Camillus Etukudoh, described the visit as unique, as it has once again strengthened the faith of the Catholic community in Christ. St. Hardini is under his diocese.
Arch Bishop Etukudoh said that the catholic community in Port Harcourt and Rivers State would continue to pray for their brothers in Lebanon and the Middle East and thanked him for visiting the state to enlighten Christians on upbringing.
Rev. Elie Alam thanked Bishop Michel Aoun for his visit and urged to continue what his predecessor started.
