Joint Security Operatives In Rivers State Arrests Eight Criminal Suspects, Rescued Four Kidnapped Victims
Amid Emergency rule in Rivers State state, the Joint Security Operation, comprising the Police, Army, NCDSC and other security agencies in the State have allegedly arrested eight suspected kidnappers and rescued six kidnapped victims in omuku, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni and Ahoada East local government areas of the state.

The joint security operatives also foiled an attempted alleged oil pipe vandal operations by suspected vandals along the Aluu-Rumuekini axis of the state.
Briefing journalists at a joint Security press briefing held at the police headquarters in Port Harcourt yesterday, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju averred that the success recorded by the joint security operatives was aimed at supporting the emergency rule in the state.
Adepoju stated that the current phase of joint security activities in the state was a necessary measure at preventing any potential breakdown of law and order, stressing that the decision to deploy a proactive policing strategy across the state was informed by an emerging atmosphere that could have been exploited by troublemakers to plunge the state into insecurity and chaos.

According to him “Over the past week, the joint efforts of the security agencies in Rivers State have amongst other successes thwarted attempts by miscreants to vandalize pipeline which led to the death of the vandals in the process of trying to detonate a pipeline as a result of the quick response of the state security agencies at Aluu- Rumuekini in Ikwerre LGA on 16 March 2025.
“In other case of anti-criminal activities in the state, the men of the security forces stormed the hideout of kidnappers along Omoku Road in Ahaoda East LGA on the 21 March 25 at about 0710 hours where 8 male suspects were arrested, and six 6 male victims rescued,
items recovered during the arrest include 2 english made pump action guns, 2 locally made pistols, 4 locally made single barrel guns with assorted rounds and cartridges, 3 Q-link motorcycles, communication equipment amongst other items”
“Another case of criminality was voided in Ogba/Egbema/ Ndoni LGA on 19 March 2025, where 2 suspects were arrested with 4 dynamites, 4 switches and detonating pods and other IED enablers. “.
The CP further disclosed that the joint security operatives also destroyed 30 illegal refining sites, 55 ovens, 20 reservoirs, 50 dug out pits, 100,000 litres of stolen crude oil and about 10,000 litres of illegally refined AGO which were handled in line with extant regulations.
Adepoju averred that the joint security team have increased deployment of security operatives in the state to disrupt the movement of criminal elements and illicit materials who, in most cases, are known to move in unregistered vehicles , adding that a State Operations Room has been established to provide real-time surveillance and facilitate rapid response to security threats within the state
“As a result, effective in seven (7) days, a targeted enforcement operation will commence to impound all vehicles operating without registered number plates, as well as those displaying improperly affixed or altered plate numbers, saying such violations, facilitate criminal activities”.
The CP urged vehicle owners in non-compliance to utilize the grace period to ensure full compliance with vehicle registration requirements and
assured that the police and other security agencies will work with stakeholders to ensure absolute peace in the State.

Rivers High Court Restrain Trustees, Knights of St. John International, Others From Conducting Election
The High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has restrained the registered trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria, and four others from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920 CIWA, Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery elections, and Supreme Subordinate elections of the Knights of St John International, Nigeria, pending the determination of the substantive matters before them.
Justice G.C. Aguma and Justice V.C. Ugoji, in their separate interim orders of injunction issued in Suit No: PHC/4410/CS/2025 and Suit No: PHC/4359/CS/2025, respectively, restrained the defendants, whether by themselves, their privies, agents, servants, or any person or group of persons working under them, from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery, Port Harcourt Commandery, and Supreme Subordinate of Knights of St John International, Nigeria.
The claimants, Sir Njoku Chukwuemeka Andrew and Sir Chukwuemeka Martin Mba, in separate suits, through their legal representatives, dragged the defendants to court, seeking an order to restrain them from appointing or installing any interim caretaker executive or leadership to run or pilot the affairs of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The defendants in the matter are: Registered Trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria; Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Ufuoma Okene, the Grand President, Port Harcourt Grand Commandery, Knights of St John International; Noble Brother Viktor Benebo, the Chairman Investigation Committee set up by the 2nd Defendant to investigate the claimants; Sir Architect Prempeh Ebiware, the District 48 Commander, Knights of St John International, Port Harcourt; and Sir Harry Oruma, member of Knights of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The two judges, after listening to the counsels in the matter, granted the claimants’ request and adjourned the matter to 10/12/2025 and 16/12/2025, respectively, for hearing of the motion on notice.
