IWD: Islamic Leader Advocates Inter -Ethnic, Religious Marriages
An Islamic leader in Nigeria, Engr Ahmad Yau Yusuf Hotoro, the Jarman Hausawan Duniya Na Africa Na Favrko, has advocated for inter ethnic and religious marriages to check incessant ethnic and religious violence in the country.
Hotoro said this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt on the sidelines of the just concluded international Women’s Day celebration in Port Harcourt.
He said encouraging marriages across religious and ethnic lines will cement the bond of unity among Nigerians.
According to him , government has the task of encouraging unity among Nigerians through inter ethnic marriages.
The Hausa leader also stressed the need for policies that will encourage gender parity in the Country.
He said both the state and National Assemblies should make laws that will encourage women to be included in all strata of the society.
“Government should key in to give women chance for them to know that they are part of the society.
“Senators, Governors and the state Assemblies should do something about gender inclusiveness”he said.
He also advised the women to keep on the struggle, while men should encourage women to be involved in every sectors of government.
meanwhile Engr Hotoro the Jarman Hausawan Duniya Na Africa Na Farko has blamed the incessant cases of kidnapping, banditry and insurgency in the North on lack of job, Western Education good governance and religious Educations.
He said time has come for government to take Western Education to the Almajiris and also provide job opportunities for youths in the country.
