Fubara Implements Health Insurance Scheme
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has approved the implementation of the State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP).
The RIVCHPP law was passed by the State Assembly in 2021 but was not implemented by former Governor Nyesom Wike despite signing it into law, leaving Rivers State as the only state without a Health Insurance Scheme in the country.
According to a statement by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh, the programme will cover health insurance and access to quality healthcare for citizens and residents of the state.
The statement also announced Dr Vetty Agala as the Acting Executive Secretary of the Scheme.
