RSG To Create ICT Hubs In Three Senatorial Districts
Rivers State Government has disclosed plans to create Information Communication Technology(ICT) hubs in the three senatorial districts of the state to drive its blue print on youth development.
State Commissioner for Youth Development, Dr. Kenneth Chisom Gbali in a chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt said the plan forms part of the policy to empower young bright minds in the ICT section.
Dr. Gbali said the Green Economy remains a veritable tool to provide job opportunities for young people.
Besides, he disclosed that the ICT hubs will go along with vocational skills, as he explained that this will engage young school leavers and those seeking for jobs.
“We have seen that if we continue in our conventional way of doing things the world will leave us behind,” Gbali said.
He said before the scheme will commence, the Ministry will engage in youth sensitization across the Local Government Areas, so as to mobilize young people to key into Governor Fubara’s programme for youths.
The Commissioner lauded the past administration for setting the foundation for a better economy through security and infrastructure development.
In the same light, Special Assistant to the Governor On Youths and Sports, Mr. Norisia Pepple has hinted that the administration will revive schools sports competition.
Mr. Pepple said this will help harness youth energies and create opportunities for future endeavors.
The SA on Youths and Sports praised the Women Handball team for making the state proud, and assured that the Fubara’s administration will give serious attention to sports development in the state.
