RSG Assures On Conducive Environment For Corps Members
Rivers State Government has assured corps members serving in the state of a condusive environment in the quest to harness their potentials.
The State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, gave the assurance during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2023 Batch A, Stream 2 corps members deployed to the state at the permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam, Tai, last Friday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Bureau, Cabinet Office, Sir George Nwaeke, Governor Wike stated that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) had maintained her institutional integrity and track record of efficient service delivery and thus require a boost.
According to him, such was evident to Nigerians in the just-concluded general elections and many other national assignments carried out by the scheme.
Describing the corps members as special and privileged Nigerians, Wike commended the scheme in the state, adding that the government would enhance their efforts through a continued creation of conducive environment for them to thrive in their potentials.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State NYSC Coordinator, George Mfongang, lauded the corps members for their patriotic zeal in participating actively in nation building.
Mfongang, who expressed confidence in the State Government called for support in the acquisition of new mattresses for the corps members as according to him, fire gutted the mattress store in the past.
The 1,850 corps members deployed to the state further received the oath of allegiance at the ceremony as administered by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor, who was represented by Justice Chinwendu Nwogu.
