Police Confirm Killing Of Three Cultists In Rivers
The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of three suspected cultists in Ahoada East Local Government Area of the state following a supremacy rival cult clash in the area.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, while confirming the killing, said the shooting was as a result of cult rivalry clash between two cult groups.
Iringe-Koko said that two among the dead cultists, Mr Azhinibudu Biko (aka Yankee) aged 35 years ,and Gboka Odoi, aged 37 years, were among the notorious criminal gangs terrorizing the Ahoada section of the East West road and its evirons.
She added that efforts are on to arrest fleeing members of the gang.
It would be recalled that three suspected cultists were killed in a gun duel in a supremacy battle between suspected Greenland and Iceland cult groups in East-West road section of Ahoada East Local Government Area on Saturday night.
The Tide learnt that the shooting caused pandemonium in the community as people around the area scampered for safety while shops owners hurriedly closed business for the day.
A source in the community who pleaded anonymity told The Tide that the shooting caused serious panic in the area, adding that the arrival of the Ahoada East Police Division led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) to the scene brought a relief to inhabitants of the community .
According to the source, the DPO and his men gave the hoodlums serious chase which forced the cultists to flee from the area.
The source further stated that but for the timely arrival of the DPO and his men, the cultists would have overrun the town.
He added that there are serious Police patrols in and around Ahoada since the incident.
