NYSC Plans Skill Aquisition Centre For Anambra
The Acting Director General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mrs Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, has expressed willingness of the Scheme to collaborate with the Anambra State Government to establish Skill Acquisition Centre in the State.
Uba disclosed this when she paid a courtesy visit to the wife of Anambra State Governor, Mrs Nonye Soludo, at the Government House, Amawbia, Awka.
Uba stated that citing a Skill Acquisition Centre in the State would not only boost the business climate of the state, but also skills of the youth population in the South-East region and the country at large.
Uba, who is a native of Anambra State, noted that the State Governor, Charles Soludo, had been of support to the NYSC scheme in the state, urging other state governments to emulate Soludo in the provision of critical camp facilities to the scheme.
Responding, the wife of Anambra State Governor congratulated Mrs Uba on her appointment as the Acting Director General of the Scheme and commended her for the visit.
The Anambra State First Lady said plans were underway to build Mega Skill Acquisition Centres in the State adding that collaboration with NYSC would facilitate the eventual take-off and development of the Centres.
She revealed that the Skill Acquisition Centres when completed would train about five thousand (5,000) youths in different skill sets, enhance their productivity, and make them self-reliant and employers of labour.
She assured the NYSC helmsman of adequate security and welfare for corps members in the State as well as her determination to continue to support NYSC, as the programme falls under her priority projects targeted at children, youths and Women.
Earlier, the NYSC Coordinator of Anambra State, Mrs Blessing Iruma disclosed that the Acting Director General was in the State on her routine tour of Orientation Camps nationwide, and further thanked the Government and good people of Anambra State for their support to the Scheme.
