Ariolu To Construct Ultra-Modern Market In Oginigba …Sues For Peace, Unity Among Warring Youths
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Barrister George Ariolu, has disclosed that his administration was set to commence the construction of an ultra-modern market for the people of Oginigba Town.
He said the construction of the market was necessitated by the need for communities to look inwards for the generation of revenue to reduce dependence on government.
Ariolu disclosed this when elders, women and youths of Elisara community in Oginigba Town led by Nyenwe Eli Elisara, Chief Anthony Adele Ariolu, paid a courtesy visit to chairman at the Council Headquarters, last Friday.
He said the construction of the market was part of the deliberate policies of his administration to improve the economic fortune of the local government area.
He added that appropriate measures would be taken by the council to ensure more economic revitalisation programmes and projects in the area, appealing for continued support to his administration in its effort to consolidate the economy of the area.
Responding to the closure of the Slaughter market in Trans Amadi, Ariolu attributed the relocation to the state government’s effort towards tackling insecurity in the area.
According to Ariolu, the construction of the market would kick off from January, 2023, and was expected to be completed within the specified timeframe to be recommended by the works department in the council.
Recognising the importance of peace in the development of a society, Ariolu urged warring youths of the community to sheath their swords and embrace peace.
He advised parties involved to unanimously agree to speak with one voice, withdraw all litigations arising from pre-election matters and other communal related issues and make room for a lasting peace.
Ariolu further warned youths against forcing leadership on the people, thereby leading to mayhem and chaos amongst the various youth set up in communities.
Reiterating the need for leaders to always stand upright and remain truthful at all times, Ariolu promised to procure a brand new transformer to boost electricity supply in the community.
On his part, Nyenwe Eli Elisara, Chief Anthony Adele Ariolu, commended the chairman for his administration’s tremendous projects’ delivery across the area.
He maintained that Ariolu, through the execution of various landmark projects, has proven that charity begins at home, laying emphasis on the interlocking of the Dike-ArioluStreet Extension, and the construction of 19 classroom blocks in Woji Community.
Nyenwe Eli Elisara, who lauded Ariolu for his astute doggedness and brilliance in handling the affairs of the area, commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief NyesomWike, for finding their son worthy to lead the people of the area at this period when his expertise was highly needed to put the local government on the right track.
