Continue To Serve God Without Malice, Acrimony -Ariolu
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Barrister George Ariolu has reassured that he will continue to use his position as chairman to serve God and humanity.
This service to God, he said is the basis for which he has ensured that he continue to honor every call to serve in God’s vineyard at various capacity since the inception of his administration.
Ariolu spoke, yesterday while addressing Christians at an Annual Harvest Thanksgiving in St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Oginigba in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
He said his administration will continue to identify with the Christian faith which is why be has set aside December 20th of every year to appreciate God in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
“For us as a government, God is our foundation. While I was campaigning, I told God if you give me the opportunity, the grace to be so elected, I’ll use the platform of governance to serve you first and to serve mankind second.
“And that’s the basis for which since we came into office, there’s no church program where we’ve been invited, no church activities that we’ve not showed our presence. We say God thank You for keeping us where we are today.
“So that is why we’ll always identify with the Christian faith. And it’s also along this line that made us for the first time in the history of the local government to declare a particular day as Obio/Akpor Thanksgiving day to God and that is every 20th December of every year. It Is now a council policy because we want God to be at the forefront.”
Ariolu informed the congregation that days have past when christians play to religion, insisting that service to God has gone beyond religion.
The chairman, who urged Christians to always come to God with expectations, stressed that whoever fails to appear before God with expectations will have themselves to blame.
He insisted that as believers, there is no other alternative to God.
He encouraged christians to continue to serve God with all seriousness devoid of malice and acrimony.
Similarly, Ariolu visited Our Saviour’s Anglican Church, Rukpakwolusi, St. John’s Anglican Church, Rumueme and Anglican Church of Pentecost, Rumuogba where he further advised Christians to be fervent in their service to God.
He maintained that Christians should continue to live in peace amongst themselves and worship God in truth and spirit.
