Ariolu Assures Rumuoadaolu Community Of Transformer
Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council, Barrister George Ariolu has proposed the procurement of a brand new transformer to ease the flow of electricity power supply in Rumuadaolu community.
He said the transformer would be procured and made available for use by the end of March 2022 to improve the standard of living and ease of doing business in the area.
He added that communities within the ambits of the council ought not to be separated from the corridors of governance and government.
Ariolu revealed when members of Rumuadaolu community paid him a courtesy visit at the Council Headquarters, Rumuodomaya, last Thursday.
Addressing members of the community, Ariolu expressed delight over the visit, reiterating that his administration was open to receiving communities within the LGA for the interest of the people, insisting that the local governments all over the world were the closest to the grassroots.
While commending the people of Rumuadaolu community over their leadership, he considered the society to be dynamic as well as pragmatic, owing to the fact that certain things change over time.
Reiterating his administration’s readiness to improve lives and develop the area, he stressed the need to train more people, particularly youths in several skills and vocations that would enable them empower themselves and the society, describing human capital development as the best form of empowerment in the society.
Similarly, he recounted his administration’s achievements in the educational sector which has enabled the council offer grants to over 50 students who are pursuing their PhD and another 50 for Masters students, adding that before the end of his administration, over 250 of them would have graduated.
He added that time has gone when the people considered the local government as garbage in, garbage out, maintaining that it was the third tier of government that owes the people the responsibility of good governance.
According to him, if good governance is achieved at the local government level, it would be actualised at all levels of government.
Speaking further, Ariolu, who attributed the urbanisation of Obio/Akpor to the robust and huge urban development programmes of Governor NyesomWike, commended him for transforming the area to a Metropolitan City.
Earlier, Paramount Ruler of Rumuadaolucommunity, Eze Henry Hanachor, who commended the council chairman’s initiative and development strides, assured him of the support of the people of the community.
While expressing optimism that Ariolu’s administration would record huge success, he said the chairman has exhibited readiness and shown commitment to the service of the people through his people-oriented activities and achievements that have empowered the people.
