You’ve Done Exceptionally Well, Ordu Tells Evo Faithful
With a heart of thanksgiving and in appreciation for God’s manifold blessings, provisions and answered prayers, the Bishop of Evo Diocese, Rt. Rev’d Innocent Ordu, and the wife, Mama Evo, Mrs Chinyere Ordu, have expressed joy for the successful hosting of the 5-day Church of Nigeria Standing Committee Meeting and the National Women’s Executive meeting which ended last Friday.
The thanksgiving service, which was combined with the annual Re-dedication Service of the Diocese, was held yesterday, at the All Saints Cathedral, Rumuokwurusi, Port Harcourt.
Ordu joyfully outlined all the units, arms, committees and sub-committees that served during the meetings.
“Thank for your labour of love. God will indeed bless you and abundantly reward the sacrifices you made,” Ordu said.
The bishop also thanked individuals, families and the government at all levels for their unwavering support, both in cash and kind, during the hosting of the meetings.
While delivering his sermon, Ven. Chidi Worgu, who spoke on the topic, ‘The Reward of Thanksgiving,’ taken from Luke 17:11-19, spoke in detail what it means to thank God.
“When we return to give thanks to God, just like the one leper did,’ he said, ‘’we are indirectly asking God for more. God, as well, gives us open cheque and opens the heavens on our behalf.’
As part of the service, the Diocesan Council of Knights and Ladies presented Gold, Silver and Bronze awards of recognition to deserving members who have contributed immensely in the progress of God’s work in the Diocese.
Some of the recipients include, Sir and Dame Emenike Amobi, Sir and Lady Chijioke Tassie, among others.
There was also the presentation of 20 sewing machines, 10 gas cookers, two washing machines and one local oven to thirty-three graduands of the Diocesan Empowerment and Skill Acquisition Programme.
These were trained in fashion designing, laundry technology, catering management, etc.
The bishop prayed and re-dedicated all the arms and units of the church for a year of serving heartily as unto the Lord.

HYPREP Tightens Security At Project Sites
Following the rupture of the ground tank of its water facility in Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has tightened security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
HYPREP, which dropped this hint in a statement signed by its Head of Communications, Dr Enuolare Mba-Nwigoh, said the Project Coordinator, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey had given the directive for security to be tightened across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
Mba-Nwigoh noted that the tightening of security across the project sites has become necessary to forestall interference with the facilities.
He further disclosed that following the rupture of the ground tank of the Ebubu water facility, a team led by HYPREP’s Director of Technical Services, Prof Damian-Paul Aguiyi has visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation, stressing that the water facility has been cordoned off for public safety.
The statement indicated that following the incident, HYPREP has henceforth barred non-project personnel and non-facility staff from gaining access into any of its active project sites in Ogoniland without authorisation.
While appealing to residents of Ebubu Community and the public to remain calm, the Head of Communications assured them that the Project is taking prompt steps to restore water to the community, saying, the cause of the unfortunate incident is being investigated.
He equally noted that the Chief Security Officer of HYPREP has been directed to immediately tighten security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
The statement said HYPREP is deeply concerned about the incident, stressing that despite the setback, the Project reiterates its commitment to delivering sustainable cleanup in Ogoniland.
