Nsirim, Obuah, Others Bag Excellence Awards
The state Commissioner for Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim has bagged another award of excellence by the Institute of Business Administration and Management under the aegis of Nigeria Professional Society of the Association of Business Administration and Knowledge Management Professionals, last Thursday, in Port Harcourt.
Also honoured by the institute are the Sole Administrator of Rivers State Waste Management Agency, Bro Felix Obuah; Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. S. Jephthah; and Hon. Marcus Nlegi.
In his opening remarks, Chairman of the occasion and Commissioner of Information and Communications, Pastor Paulinus Nsirim, commended the institute for the double activities which include Induction of members, certification and awards to distinguished Nigerians.
Nsirim, who was represented by Director, Public Enlightenment, Ministry of State Information, Mr. Celestine Ogolo, congratulated the newly inductees of the institute, pointing out that it was good to empower and encourage people.
According to him, people are proud of what was happening in the state based on the revolution that happening in the education sector, especially in the tertiary institutions in the state.
He used the opportunity to enjoin the institute to join the government in the responsibility to develop the state through marketing and not to de-market Rivers State.
Also speaking, the Sole Administrator of the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA), Bro Felix Obuah called on all and sundry to join in the process of keeping Rivers State clean.
Obuah, who was represented by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Jerry Needam, enjoined Rivers people to always dump their waste at the right hours beginning from 12 midnight to 6am in the morning, regretting that people always litter the streets with waste products.
According to him, RIWAMA has taken the campaigns for people to clean their environment to the streets, churches, schools and now they are taking the campaign to the Institute of Business Management to join the campaign to return Rivers State to its Garden City of Nigeria.
He used the opportunity to appeal to every one of them to be an ambassador of keeping the state clean.
In his speech, the newly inaugurated South-South Branch Chairman of the Institute of Business Administration and Management and Senior Lecturer, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education Rumuolumeni, Port Harcourt, Dr. Jude Nwoka, said that those who were honoured were based on their professional competence and managerial expertise, adding that the award bestowed on them was meritorious and will spur them to do more in managing both human and natural resources.
Meanwhile, highlight was inauguration of the South-South branch of the Institute of Business Administration and Management, induction of new members and award of honour to eminent Nigerians.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
