Jubilation As Community Rejuvenates Cultural Heritage
Emohua community, headquarters of Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State was agog with jubilation and fanfare on Friday November 19, 2021 as the good people of the area witnessed the historic initiation of Chief Joseph Nna Weli into the highly revered Urie Council of Chiefs, the second highest traditional council in Emohua Clan.
Speaking at the well attended event, which took place at ‘Obiri Rumu mini Oloh’ in Rumuchenya Emohua, the chairman of the event, Ohna Agbakor Onu, stated that the traditional title of Urie is bestowed on the eldest legitimate male child of a recognised compound. “The Urie title gives the holder the rights and privileges to represent his lineage in all communal gatherings and important delebrations and decisions that involve the community at large”, he said.
Ohna Agbakor congratulated the chief on his new status which he said is well deserved as he urged him to carry along all the members of his family and subjects in the discharge of his traditional duties, because to whom much is given, much is also expected.
Responding, Chief Joseph Nna Weli expressed gratitude to God for actualising his age long desire and to Emohua people for finding him worthy to wear the revered and highly coveted crown. He said with God, all things are possible to those who believe in him. He promised to discharge his duty with humility, honesty, equity and justice in order to justify the confidence reposed in him.
In their vote of thanks one of the sons of Chief Weli, Comrade Benson Weli on behalf of others thanked God for uplifting their father to his rightful position in the community. He recalled that his father was subjected to untold hardship, discrimination and injustice in his quest to get what rightfully belonged to him but when God says yes, no mortal can change it. He therefore expressed joy that God’s purpose in the life of their father had come to pass in a memorable way.
Benson thanked Ohna (Sir) Sergent Awuse for restoring peace between the families of Miniwolo and Igelewolo which had made the historic event possible and for restoring peace in the entire Emohua Clan as well as for transforming the community to a new city in Rivers State.
The colourful event was graced by a mammoth crowd from within and out side the community including celebrities, politicians, cultural groups, veteran Disc Jockeys (DJs) with their latest club bangers amid wining, dining and dancing as the event was turned into a cultural jamboree and entertainment extravaganza.

Her latest film, Behind The Scenes, has officially emerged as the highest-grossing Nollywood film of 2025, pulling in an astonishing ?1.767 billion in less than four weeks.

Earlier in its release cycle, the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, revealed that Behind The Scenes smashed five opening-weekend records, including the highest single-day gross ever recorded on Boxing Day, with ?129.5 million in one day. That announcement already hinted that something unusual was unfolding.
Reacting to the milestone, FilmOne described the moment as both surreal and communal, crediting audience loyalty for pushing the film to the top spot once again as the number-one movie of the weekend. And that sentiment feels accurate. This wasn’t just ticket sales; it was momentum.
What makes this achievement even more striking is that Behind The Scenes is Funke Akindele’s third film to cross the ?1 billion mark. Before now, there was A Tribe Called Judah, and then Everybody Loves Jenifa, a film that didn’t just open big, but went on to become the highest-grossing Nollywood film of all time. At this point, it’s no longer a fluke. It’s a pattern.
Part of Behind The Scenes’ success lies in strategy. The film enjoyed advanced screenings on December 10 and 11, quietly building curiosity and conversation before its nationwide release on December 12. By the time it officially hit cinemas, audiences already felt like they needed to see it.
Then there’s the cast. The film brings together a lineup that feels deliberately stacked: Scarlet Gomez, Iyabo Ojo, Destiny Etiko, Tobi Bakre, Uche Montana, and several others. Familiar faces, strong fan bases, and performances that kept word-of-mouth alive long after opening weekend.

Looking ahead to 2026 and 2027, he is preparing for collaborations with Ice Prince, M.I Abaga, and Smurlee.
