Cleric Applauds Wike Over Trans-Kalabari Road Project
Elder statesman and General Overseer of Christ Link Gospel Publishers Church in Port Harcourt, Rev. Sokari Soberekon, has expressed appreciation to the Governor of the State, Chief Nyesom Wike for embarking on the construction of the Trans-Kalabari road project, describing it as a realisation of the age-long dream of the Kalahari people.
In a chat with newsmen at his residence in Port Harcourt, Soberekon also commended the Wike administration for the numerous development projects being carried out in the State.
He said Governor Wike had changed the face of the capital city through his articulated urban renewal projects.
According to him, the construction of the long awaited Trans-Kalabari road project had rekindled his love for the Wike administration, adding that the project which has been a source of priority to him will promote the socio-ecomonic wellbeing of the Kalabari people and the State.
He commended the Governor for embarking on gigantic projects all over the State, despite the scarce resources of the State and however, appealed to him to consider implementing some policies that will alleviate the sufferings of the poor.
He urged the Governor to consider instituting and implementing a state sponsored school feeding programme in primary and secondary schools in the state and called for the floating of a subsidised mass transit transport system to assist and alleviate the transport difficulties of the less privileged in the state.
Soberekon bemoaned the debilitating state of poverty in the land, adding that the downturn in the nation’s economy and the policies of the Federal Government had impacted negatively on the people and had led to the phenomenal increase in poverty rate in the country.
