Monarch Hails Wike Over Project In Omuma
The Eze Eberi Ugo IX of Eberi Omuma Kingdom, King Onyekachi K. Amaonwu has commended the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike over the commissioning of the 17 kilometer Umueze/Umuogba/Eberi Link Road.
Amaonwu gave the commendation during the project commissioning at Eberi Omuma in Omuma Local Government Area, recently.
The monarch, who is also a trained lawyer, pointed out that Governor Wike’s decision to construct the Umuakali and Eberi Road was a laudable feat.
“Governor Wike has shown that he is not only a man of action but a man of his words. If nothing else, those accusing him of only performing in the urban areas should keep quiet. He is an all round performer”, he said.
He said the best way to appreciate the governor was for the people of Omuma and Rivers citizens at large to embrace peace, adding that the Rivers people have not had it this good under a second term administration.
“We have seen a governor who is doing more projects in his second tenure in office .This is unprecedented in the history of Nigerian politics”, he said.
The traditional ruler, who is the Chairman of Omuma Council of Traditional Rulers, called on other political leaders in the country to emulate Governor Wike in order to move the nation forward.
He said the recent approval secured by the governor to site a Law School in the state was one of the best achievements by any administration in the state.
The monarch, therefore, urged Nigerians to support Governor Wike in his future political ambition for a more purposeful leadership.
“The governor is still young and vibrant and has a lot to offer this country at any level. We should not allow any sentiment to make us lose such a man,” he stated.
King Amaonwu also canvassed support for the member representing Omuma constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Kelechi Nwogu, calling on Omuma people to continue to give him their unalloyed support.

BVN Enrolments Rise 6% To 67.8m In 2025 — NIBSS
The Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System (NIBSS) has said that Bank Verification Number (BVN) enrolments rose by 6.8 per cent year-on-year to 67.8 million as at December 2025, up from 63.5 million recorded in the corresponding period of 2024.
In a statement published on its website, NIBSS attributed the growth to stronger policy enforcement by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and the expansion of diaspora enrolment initiatives.
NIBSS noted that the expansion reinforces the BVN system’s central role in Nigeria’s financial inclusion drive and digital identity framework.
Another major driver, the statement said, was the rollout of the Non-Resident Bank Verification Number (NRBVN) initiative, which allows Nigerians in the diaspora to obtain a BVN remotely without physical presence in the country.
A five-year analysis by NIBSS showed consistent growth in BVN enrolments, rising from 51.9 million in 2021 to 56.0 million in 2022, 60.1 million in 2023, 63.5 million in 2024 and 67.8 million by December 2025. The steady increase reflects stronger compliance with biometric identity requirements and improved coverage of the national banking identity system.
However, NIBSS noted that BVN enrolments still lag the total number of active bank accounts, which exceeded 320 million as of March 2025.
The gap, it explained, is largely due to multiple bank accounts linked to single BVNs, as well as customers yet to complete enrolment, despite the progress recorded.
