IGP Replaces Delta, Imo CPs
A new Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, has taken over from CP Adeyinka Adeleke in the Delta State Police Command.
Adeleke is proceeding on a course at the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru, Jos.
Inuwa, while taking over the mantle of leadership at the weekend, declared that he would build a formidable security structure from where his predecessor had stopped.
He said, “Though no society is insulated from crime, I will not tolerate heinous crime. I am using this medium to warn bandits who parade as herdsmen, armed robbers, kidnappers and others to steer clear of innocent citizens in the state because as far as the command under me is concerned, we will not tolerate mindless crimes and criminality.
“Of course, you know that police alone cannot solve criminality; and so we need the cooperation of all. We need the public to cooperate with us and make sure they report all forms of criminality around them to us.
“Let me also warn my officers and men to desist from any act capable of tarnishing the image of the police. I will again not tolerate any act of indiscipline, connivance and indolence. We need to work professionally and with commitment to tackle security challenges bedeviling our society”.
Inuwa was born on 21st March, 1964 at Ringim LGA of Jigawa State. He enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force on 3rd March, 1990 after attending the Police Academy in Kaduna.
In Imo State, a statement issued by the Police command said the state Governor, Emeka Ihedioha, had received a new police commissioner of police.
The new CP is Olaniyi Fafowora, the statement from the command’s spokesperson, Orlando Ikeokwu, said.
It explained that Fafowora’s posting was sequel to the retirement of the immediate past CP, Rabiu Ladodo.
Until his appointment, Fafowora was the CP in charge of the Counter Terrorism Unit, Force Headquarters, Abuja, the statement disclosed.
He hails from Osun State and was enlisted into the Nigeria Police force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of police in 1986, the statement added.
