RSG Has Retired 2,093 Civil Servants Since 2015 -Onyiri

No less than 2,093 civil servants have retired from the Rivers State Civil Service from 2015 till date. The Chairman, Rivers State Civil Service Commission, Chief Oris Onyiri, who disclosed this at a send-forth ceremony for retirees of the Rivers State Ministry of Information and Communications between 2015 and 2019, said that 97 of this number retired from the Ministry of Information and Communications.
Onyiri, who was represented by a commissioner in the commission, Konfan Harry, charged the retirees to see their new status as an opportunity to impact positively on their communities.
While thanking the state Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike for amending the Contributory Pension Scheme Act, which migrated the retirees to the old Defined Pension Scheme, Onyiri expressed the hope that with the on-going biometric exercise for retirees in the state, some of them might soon start receiving their pensions.
Also speaking, the state Head of Service, Barrister Rufus Godwins, thanked the Ministry of Information and Communications for organizing the send-forth ceremony in spite of the harsh economic climate in the country.
Godwins, who was represented by a Permanent Secretary in the Office of the Head of Service, Sir Nnamdi Okpe, said the retirees were endowed with abundant potentials for the development of their communities.
