Body Of Drowned BSU Student Found, Another Still Missing
The body of Adakole, alias Kole, the 100-level student of the Benue State University, BSU, who had drowned in River Benue last Friday, has been found.
The student has also been buried, according to KizitoWachihi Joseph, the Student Union Government President.
Adekole drowned and died in River Benue on Friday while the search continues for Emmanuella, the other missing 100L MBBS female student.
A statement to newsmen yesterday by the SUG President, Joseph read, “The University has been thrown into mourning as the the body of Kole, the male student who drowned on Friday evening at River Benue has been found and buried.
“There have been a lot of mixed reactions over the way the corpse of the late maths and computer student was buried (at the bank of the river).
“I want to therefore clear the air on the circumstances that led to the above pattern of burial.
“The deceased was an “Idoma born” and according to their traditions, drowned persons are buried at the bank of the water body, their bodies were found.
“This is to show that it’s not accepted in the family and it is treated as such to prevent further reoccurrance of such in the family.
“The aggrieved family, refused to take the body, which was a kind of taboo to their household.(not Kole’s behavior)
“So contrary to public belief, the STUDENT UNION didn’t neglect the process.
“Meanwhile the search continues this morning for EMMANUELA the other missing 100L MBBS female student who is yet to be rescued.
“We pray that God grants us the grace to find her alive. Pray for her!”
