Rivers FA Cup Competition Kicks Off
Rivers State Football Association (RSFA) Cup Competition kicked off on Monday at Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt.
In the opening match, Ajagun Academy FC lost 2-4 to Mountain of Fire Miracle (MFM)FC, while in the second match saw Urim FC defeated Net Bombers FC 3-2,as Willbros narrowly beat hard fighting Swanbere 2 -1 in the third match.
Speaking after the second match, the Head Coach of Urim FC, Lucky Batubo said that football is about fighting to the end of 90 minutes.
According to him, when his side was a goal down at the end of first half, he instructed his players to hold on the ball and create chances to score goals in the second half.
He explained that coming from behind to defeat your opponent was a good fight.
Coach Batubo commended his players for showcasing what they were taught in training sessions.
“At the end of the 90 minutes, you were able to fight back and got a good result,” he explained.
In his reaction, Urim FC’s player who scored a brace in the match, Rasheed Salami also expressed joy as he scored both the equalizer and the winning goal.
“I thank God for the game because if you lose out in any of the matches in this competition, your team is out,” Salami said.
Earlier, the coach of Net Bombers FC, Celestine John said losing out of the competition is not a bad result, adding that you will get it right one day.
