NMA’s Support For Wike Excites Banigo
The Rivers State Deputy Governor, Dr Ipalibo Harry Banigo has expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) for supporting the Governor Nyesom Wike-led administration.
The deputy governor expressed this while playing host to the top echelon of the NMA at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
According to Banigo, the NMA has been a dependable partner in the Wike-led government’s quest to reduce the disease burden of the Rivers people, noting that circumstances and the will of God had placed them in a position to serve the totality of our people.
While stressing that health is paramount in the socio economic and political development of the society, Banigo described Wike as a health-friendly governor, who would continue to put the wellbeing of the Rivers people on the front burner of governance in the state, and called on the NMA to support Wike’s second term bid.
The National President of the Nigerian Medical Association, Dr Francis Adedayo Faduyile, who spoke through the state Chairman of the NMA, Dr Obelebra Adebiyi had earlier said the Nigerian Medical Association has made a commitment to put healthcare on the political agenda as a strategy for advancing its objectives of improved healthcare delivery, noting that it seeks to get more medical practitioners and health friendly individuals to participate in politics in order to advance this cause.
According to him, the association has established a fund to promote and support doctors seeking elective political offices.
